Melange

Mélange (French for “mixing”) is a story about combination and the careful harmony of flavors, ingredients, and techniques from around the world. Born in Ethiopia, trained in France, and now famous for his triple-blend burger, Chef Elias Taddesse’s new restaurant in Washington, DC builds on his iconic burger with new classics inspired by his African heritage.

Telling The Story

Restaurants, especially those in DC, must show their personality well to stand out from the crowd. For Melange, this meant differentiating their sourcing and the care that goes into their dishes. HERD sat down with Chef Elias Taddesse and aligned a number of shoots from the restaurants suppliers, including the farm, slaughterhouse, and butcher of the hamburger meat and the bakery and vegan protein producer for the creation of the veggie burgers. The restaurant’s story was then crafted into a social media series featuring photography and video vignettes that culminated in a larger video providing a full background for the food served.
